Midnight Ghost Tour

Discover the barbaric and mysterious potions used in the apothecary shop in the 1890s before departing on a spine-tingling ghost tour.

Enjoy a two-course sit down meal at one of the most haunted pubs in Australia and hear about “Luke”, a resident ghost who wanders the halls, opening locks and doors.

Then head to the burial site of an innocent murder victim and hear other unfortunate tales from days gone by.

Childers Festival Long Table Dinner

Join local winemakers Terrance and Mary Byrne at Hill Of Promise Winery and discover how they pour pride, passion and respect for tradition into every glass.

Childers Historic Walking Tour

Local historian Scott Stedman invites you on a captivating walking tour through Christ Church Childers and along the picturesque main street. This heritage-themed walk takes in the beautiful stained-glass windows of the Anglican Church, the Kanaka Memorial and many historic buildings along the way.

The tour will finish at the Old Pharmacy Museum, a visitor attraction overflowing with pharmaceutical displays and early medicines of the last century.

Crescent Street Family Festival

Gather your family, friends and neighbours to enjoy a free evening of entertainment as we celebrate the Childers community in Crescent Street.

Multicultural Church Service

Join Father Onyema Eloagu at the beautifully Romanesque Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a multicultural mass; a long-standing tradition of the Childers Festival. Celebrate with an entrance procession of national flags, prayers in various languages, parishioners wearing national dress and the Liturgy led by the Australian Nigerian-born Parish Priest Fr. Onyema Eloagu.

The church is a COVID safe area and QLD check-in rules apply.

Childers Festival Day

The Childers Festival is a celebration of the people and heritage of Childers.

When the highway closes, Childers is transformed into an action-packed entertainment hub, hosting celebrity artists and headline acts, tribute performances and live music from every genre and decade. 

The kids or young at heart will be mesmerised by acrobatic shows, circus stunts, magicians, street performers, bubble pirates, interactive characters and free carnival rides.

The incredible markets will feature more than 300 stallholders where you can pick up a vintage treasure, sample local produce, admire hand-made gems and local arts and craft.

There will be a free shuttle bus running from Bundaberg to Childers Festival. Book your seat here.

FAQs

ATMs There are a number of ATMs in Churchill Street (the main street).

PETS No pets are allowed on the event site with the exception of Assistance Animals. Please be aware that the sun, dehydration, noise and huge crowds increase the stress and health problems for pets.

DOG MINDING On Sunday 25 July, Red Collar Rescue Inc. will be onsite at the Childers Showgrounds offering a dog minding service so your furry friend can be cared for whilst you attend the Festival. The service will be available between 9 am and 3.30 pm at a cost of $10 per dog and offers your dog a shaded area, water, exercise and of course companionship!
Red Collar Rescue Inc. is a local, independent, non-profit, charitable organisation and 100% of earnings from this dog minding service will go directly to caring for the animals in its care. For more information, please contact 0438 869 085.

SMOKING is not permitted in the Festival event area at all.

ALCOHOL can be purchased from the winery and liquor stalls at the event, but can only be sampled/consumed in the designated consumption areas, generally adjacent to these stalls. A bar with a licensed area will be open on Saturday night and Sunday near Stage Three in Crescent Street. Patrons are asked to drink responsibly and reminded that only adults 18 years or over are allowed to consume alcohol.

QUEENSLAND POLICE A marquee located at the corner of Bruce Highway and North Street, as indicated on the Festival map, will be manned by Queensland Police on Sunday 25 July. Police will also be on patrol in the Festival area.

FIRST AID for the festival is located in the Meeting Room of the Isis Cultural Centre, 49 Churchill Street, and in Crescent Street near the amusement. The Queensland Ambulance Station is located in North Street (to the north of the Neighbourhood Centre).

LOST PROPERTY is located at the Childers Visitor Information Centre in the Palace Building at 72 Churchill Street, as indicated on the Festival Map.

BABY FEED AND CHANGE The Australian Breastfeeding Association Childers Group “Feed and Change Tent” will be located in Millennium Park in Crescent Street (behind the NAB and adjacent to the Children’s playground). There are also baby changing stations in the toilet facilities located in Millennium Park and at the Isis Cultural Centre, 49 Churchill Street.

TOILETS with facilities for the disabled are located inside the Isis Cultural Centre, 49 Churchill Street and at Millennium Park. Toilet trucks will also be located in North Street outside the Neighbourhood Centre and in Crescent Street at the rear of the carpark near Stage Three.

COVID Safe event

The safety of all who attend Childers Festival is our absolute priority. The festival will occur in a COVID safe environment and follow all advice provided by Queensland Health.

Please do not attend if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, are in close physical contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19, have visited a known hotspot in the last 14 days, are awaiting test results or have any COVID symptoms.

Whilst enjoying the event please remember to socially distance and practice good hand hygiene. Please comply with any COVID related signage throughout the event and follow any directions given by event staff, security, police or COVID-19 marshals at all times. If you become unwell during the event, please notify event staff as soon as possible.

Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible, however this is not mandatory at this time.

To facilitate contact tracing requirements all visitors will be required to register through the event QR code. The QR code will be available on event days and can be accessed when entering. To help avoid queues, please download the Check In QLD App in advance.

Parking

There are a number of parking options including St Joseph’s Primary School $10, Isis District State High School $5, Childers Showgrounds free of charge and a designated area at the corner of Lord and Crescent Streets for disabled parking only. Motorists are asked to consider residents and are not to park in driveways. Police will be monitoring the situation throughout the day.

Park’n’Ride

Services will be offered throughout the day from the Childers Showgrounds, parking areas and along the Bruce Highway.
